The volunteer project takes place in Kathmandu where your group will lend valuable support to a pioneering community school which provides free education to the poorest children.
The volunteering challenge is truly unique and will test your ability to work in a new environment, within a different culture and to achieve goals as part of a team.
You’ll also have the chance to get involved in an exhilarating trek on your weekend. This is an alternative experience with local homestay accommodations overnight during your trek and opportunities to explore the surrounding villages, live the local life and even get your hands dirty on your hosts’ farms.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu you will be met at the airport and transferred to your volunteer accommodation. You’ll be settled in and enjoy a welcome meal before joining in with your pre-departure and preparation for the next couple of weeks.
Your group’s volunteer work will be at a local community school which provides free education to the poorest children in Kathmandu. The project focuses on teaching English as this is the most sought after skill by future employers.
Lessons with native English speaking volunteers can help the children make rapid progress, inspire them to pursue education and persist with learning English. Volunteers can work together to take classes if they wish and this is a really good way to boost your confidence in presenting to an audience.
The challenge for your group will also be to lead fun activities in after school clubs where you will work with your students in a more informal setting. This aspect of the challenge is about cultural exchange and also being strong, positive role models for children who come from a variety of difficult backgrounds.
Today we transfer to the airport for your flight home.
