Spend your internship in some of the most incredible destinations in the world, while being an integral part of a grassroots charity. This internship is an opportunity to get real hands on experience working with an international development charity in Cambodia, Thailand and Nepal. Your role will include working alongside our team to develop key strategies, sustain and improve programs and local relationships, as well as getting involved in many other exciting day-to-day activities. Through challenging projects and teaching opportunities you’ll develop crucial transferable skills whilst making a huge impact to local communities across the world.

Listed below are the next 6 start dates for this internship, you can arrive on any Saturday within each month. When you are ready to book you’ll be asked which destination and departure date you’d like to take part in. To sign on to one of the internships you’ll need to pay a $400 deposit, with the remainder spread over monthly instalments.
Cambodia, Thailand, and Nepal
Departure dates: January 2016, May 2016, September 2016, January 2017, May 2017 and September 2017
This internship will provide students interested in public health, nutrition, health sciences and other related courses the opportunity to understand and help resolve health issues while working within a local community in a developing country.
From running assessments to developing and delivering health education programs to improve the awareness on various health issues there is a wide range of opportunities for the interns on this program to get involved with.
The interns could be working with local health centres or local schools to understand the key health issues, conduct assessments and help develop programs to improve the health of the children and adults in the local community.
We run health camps and health awareness workshops in the local community, as an intern on this program you will be able to focus and shape the content for these activities based upon your understanding and research into the issues affecting the local community.
Intern role
As a Health intern you will be working alongside our local projects to support program development both within the local community and our partner schools. You’ll be at the forefront of exciting new projects and using your expertise to help increase our in-country capabilities, whilst at the same time learning vital skills to compliment your studies
You will take a leading role in conducting the needs assessments for our health education programs. This includes medical programs, health promotion and other group community projects. You will also help develop a new health education curriculum which can be introduced at various levels.
Part of your role will be to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of our programs in country. You will have to put together a scale using KPI’s to evaluate areas such as volunteers, projects and general programs .
You will also have the exciting and rewarding opportunity to get involved in the delivery of the current programs, carrying out activities such as volunteering hours within our partner medical facilities, leading group medical programs as well as managing individual volunteers.
Intern requirements
A minimum of 10 to 12 weeks is required to make this program worthwhile for both parties
Studying a related course to the development sector or Medical
Open minded and patient mentality that will be paramount to understanding the communities and patients
Completely respectful of the organization, the culture, the FutureSense Foundation partners and in-country staff. (partners; students, teachers, doctors)
